20 Second Timer

This 20 second timer starts counting down as soon as the page opens. Leave the tab in the background and it stays exact, because the countdown reads your device clock instead of counting ticks.

What people use a 20 second timer for

The 20 second preset comes up most often for:

  • washing hands for the full recommended time
  • HIIT intervals and Tabata rounds
  • holding a single stretch

How to use the 20 second timer

  1. The countdown starts on its own when the page loads, so there is nothing to click.
  2. The Mute button on a timer row silences that one timer only, before it ends.
  3. Pause freezes the time left and resume picks up from exactly that point.
  4. Add a second countdown from the form above without losing the 20 second one.

How this timer works

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. The countdown is anchored to your device clock rather than to a counter that ticks down, so even when the browser throttles a background tab the time left is still exact when you return. The alarm is scheduled against the same clock.

Can I run several timers at the same time?

Yes, that is what the tool is built for. Add as many as you like. Each one gets its own name, its own alarm switch and its own progress bar, the list reorders itself so the next to finish is on top, and the browser tab title always shows the most urgent one.

Do I lose my timers if I reload or close the page?

No. Running and paused timers are saved in your own browser along with the moment they are due to end, and they are restored when you come back. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing leaves your device.

How do I stop the alarm?

A ringing timer shows a Stop button on its row. You can also silence a timer before it ends with its Mute button, or change the default for new timers with the Alarm switch in the form.

Can I pause and resume a countdown?

Yes. Pause freezes whatever time is left, and resume continues from exactly that point rather than restarting the countdown.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

It is free with no account and no install. Everything runs in your browser.
